5 YEARS STRATEGIC PLAN
  • To support all Tongan Healthcare workers in New
    Zealand
  • To provide advice on Tongan cultural
  • To provide advocacy services to Tongan health
    consumers.
  • To provide advocacy services to members of the
    Association.
  • To advocate issues of importance to Tongan and
    Pacific health and well being
  • To provide public statements on health matters
    affecting the Tongan and Pacific community in New
    Zealand
  • To assist Tongan students studying in health and
    health-related fields, which may include
    scholarships based on availability of funds.
  • To provide aid to Tonga to assist special members
    and the provision of health/social services in
    Tonga
  • To carry out any other object in furtherance of
    the general objective of the Association.

WORK STREAMS
  • Members of ATHWA include Doctors, Psychiatrist,
    Nurses, Social Workers, clinicians, Counsellors,
    support workers, church leaders, lecturers
  • 5 Work streams Clinical, social services, Mens
    health (Faikava), AOD, Youth
  • Identified work stream co-ordinator with 5-8
    members in each group
  • Co-ordinators form part of management committee
  • Individual groups submit plan for activities with
    costing

TONGAN ALCOHOL NETWORK NEW ZEALAND (TANNZ)
  • Formed as a focus group assist develop Tongan
    Community Educational Toolkit (TCET)
  • Members include AOD clinicians, ACC promotional
    coordinator, church leaders, youth leaders and
    clinical workers
  • AOD work stream facilitate Train the Trainers
    and AOD programmes for churches especially during
    Alcohol awareness camps
