Title: A model of cortical neuronal circuit with dynamic synapses

1
A model of cortical neuronal circuit with dynamic
synapses
  • All synapses have the capability of
  • short- and long-term plasticity
  • Each thalamic input is independent
  • and may be of arbitrary pattern
  • The number of PCs may be
  • arbitrary

PC - pyramidal cell (shown with its 19
compartments) FFI - interneuron realizing feed
forward inhibition RI - interneuron realizing
recurrent inhibition. Open triangles - excitatory
synapses Filled triangles - inhibitory
synapses. Types of synaptic conductances are
indicated in callout boxes next to corresponding
synapses (AMPA, NMDA, GABAA, GABAB). Model input
is the impulses applied to thalamic inputs.

Color-coded plots of degree of synchronization S
versus PC-PC excitatory synapse initial weight
(horizontal axis) and Interneuron-PC inhibitory
synapse initial weight (vertical axis).

Synapses between PCs are facilitating at around
10 Hz and depressing at higher frequencies
Synapses between pyramidal cells (PC) are
depressing at all frequencies.
