    the University up and running in the shortest
    length of time.

    continuous services in restoring campus back to
    normal.

Earthquake Response Priorities
  • Priority One
  • Residential buildings and critical emergency
    response facilities

  • Critical emergency response facilities include
    health care facilities, parking structures,
    Facilities Management, Career and Protective
    Services and Bovard Administration.
  • Hazardous materials facilities include all lab
    buildings, hazardous materials storage
    structures, and chlorine tanks at McDonalds Swim
    Stadium.

Team Field Procedures
  • The responsibilities of Facilities Management
    Services, in coordination with Career
    Protective Services will be
  • Initial assessment of damage to USC facilities
  • Advise university on evacuation and re-entry
  • Restore power
  • Prevent damage or injury by making repairs or
    utility service adjustments, if necessary (shut
    off gas, power, etc.)
  • Keep records of losses due to facility damage

  • In addition, FMS will utilize services from
    outside licensed vendors and consulting
    structural engineers.

Role of Utilities Team
  • 35 staff assigned to zones consisting of
    Journeymen Electricians, Plumbers and Engineers.
  • Duties
  • Inspect Utility distribution systems (gas, water,
    high voltage and electricity).
  • Specialists in shutting off or re-routing utility
    service to a building as necessary.

  • USC has priority above all non-Premium Plus
    clients during an area-wide event such as an
    earthquake
  • Available 24/7, 365 days a year

Earthquake Response Organization
  • FMS earthquake response will be coordinated from
    FMS/CRC Command Center
  • All FMS personnel, including 6 Emergency Teams
    will report to FMS/CRC Command Center
  • The AVP and the Executive Director of Operations
    will coordinate the FMS response activities from
    the EOC (FMS Training Room)
