What is Hajj?

• Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam
• Hajj or Pilgrimage to Makkah, is an obligation to
  every Muslim who is physically or financially
  capable.
• A Muslim must preform Hajj at least once in
  his/her lifetime.

Types of Hajj

• There are 3 types of Hajj
• Hajj Ifraad (Isolated Hajj)
• Hajj Qiraan (Accompanied Hajj)
• Hajj Tamattu (Enjoyable Hajj)

Hajj Ifraad (Isolated Hajj)

• This refers to Hajj performed by Itself without
  'Umrah and the pilgrim performing this type of
  Hajj is called a Mufrid. Such a pilgrim is
  required to enter the state of Ihraam with the
  intention of doing Hajj only.

Hajj Qiran (Accompanied Hajj)

• This Hajj is combined with 'Umrah without coming
  out of Ihraam, and the pilgrim performing this
  type of Hajj is known as a Qaarin. The Qaarin
  should enter the state of Ihraam with the
  intention of performing 'Umrah and Hajj together.

Hajj Tamattu (Enjoyable Hajj)

• Umrah is also combined with Hajj under this type
  however, a new intention with new Ihraam is made
  for the Hajj. The pilgrim performing this type of
  Hajj is known as a Mutamatti'.

Ihram (Clothing of Hajj)

• Steps for entering the state of the Ihram
• 1. Bathe yourself (Ghusl).
• 2. Wear Ihram garments.
• 3. Make intention for Umrah or Hajj.
• 4. Recite Talbeyah.
• 5. Avoid acts forbidden
• while in the state of Ihram.

Talbiyah

• Here I am O Allah, (in response to Your call),
  here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I
  am. Verily all praise, grace and sovereignty
  belong to You. You have no partner.

Route of Hajj

Going to Mina

• The noon, on the 8th of Dhul Hajjah.

Going to Arafat

• The Morning, on the 9th of Dhul Hajjah. Stay
  until sunset.

Going to Muzdalifah

• After the sunset, on the 9th of Dhul Hajjah,
  before the sunrise on 10th of Dhul Hajjah.

Proceed to Mina

• Proceed to Mina at sunrise on the 10th of Dhul
  Hajjah.

Tawaf Al Ifadah

• The 10th of Dhul Hajjah
• Or after.

Return to Mina

• The 10th , 11th , 12th or 13th of
• Dhul Hajjah.

Tawaf Al-Wida' (Farewell Tawaf)

• Perform the Tawaf of the Ka'bah after the 12th of
  Dhul Hajjah.
