What We Do
  • The Secretary of Natural Resources is appointed
    by the governor as a cabinet member to uphold the
    provisions of Article 11 of the Virginia
    Constitution. The secretary is charged with
    overseeing the Commonwealth's natural and
    historic resources. Seven agencies within the
    Secretariat are committed to carrying out this

    advocate the wise use of the Commonwealth's
    unique natural, historic, recreational, scenic
