Title: Science Placement

1
Science Placement
  • Next Course Recommendations for 8?9 Science

2
Overview
  • IT has pulled the current class lists for 8th
grade Science and developed an application to
    assign next years course
  • Based on the criteria supplied by the Science
department, the Recommended Next Courses have
    been calculated
  • The Science teachers are to review the criteria
based assignments and override them when
    necessary
  • The revised lists will be pulled into Pentamation
to load the next courses into the next-year
    scheduling information

3
Step 1 Open the application
  • On a district computer that you are logged into,
    go to the Gdrive or
  • Click on the Microsoft Access Icon
  • Click on File/Open
  • Click on the down arrow to the right of the
Look-In box and point to the Gdrive

The Application opens to your login verification
screen

    list your classes for review

necessary changes

  • If your classes are not listed, they may not have
the correct Network login assigned to them.

9
Update Recommended Next Course (see the next
screen for the example)
  • All criteria for placement is displayed
  • If you are happy with the calculated Next
Course, do nothing for that student
  • The three columns to the far right show how many
of the criteria for the non-impact courses have
been met. A score of 3 is required to get that
    course. A 3 for 4609 supersedes 4509 which
supersedes 4409. 4409 was assigned if there was
missing criteria (no ITBS score, etc).

10
Sample of Class List
  • Note the Original assignment
  • Note the drop-down to select the revised
assignment only use this to change a
recommended next course, take NO action if you
    are happy with the original
  • Note the Criteria Met Count (See the next slide)

11
FYI Criteria Met Count
  • The Criteria Met Count is shown for each of the
three non-impact courses. The 3 objective
criteria (Science Average, Math Average and
ITBS Math Total) are given a point when a
students data compares favorably to the
placement criteria. A score of 3 for a course
implies the student qualifies for that course
    without needing the teachers recommendation.
