The Governments vision for ICT
  • All learners should have the necessary knowledge,
skills and understanding to be effective and
fulfilled citizens in an information age.
  • Higher standards
  • Develop and deliver e-learning
  • Assisting schools to make excellent use of
    opportunities
  • Investment and return
  • There is a particular thrust to develop and
deliver e-learning where there are considerable
benefits to be gained. This is not only true for
    individual learners, teachers and other
professionals working in schools, but also for
schools themselves, the communities they serve
and the future prosperity of the nation.

Understanding the strands of ICT
  • Strand What does this mean?
  • Exchanging and sharing information Using ICT to
communicate in words, pictures and sound
  • Finding things out Using ICT to analyse data
and to search CDs and the Internet
  • Developing ideas and making things happen
Modelling Using ICT to model real or imaginary
things, places and events Control Using
ICT to control devices and detect physical
    changes
  • Reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it
    progresses
  • Breadth of study Developing knowledge, skills
and understanding of the role of ICT in
    today's world

OHT ICT 1.12
13
ICT in Key Stage 1
  • During Key Stage 1 pupils explore ICT and learn
to use it confidently and with purpose to achieve
specific outcomes. They start to use ICT to
develop their ideas and record their creative
work. They become familiar with hardware and
    software.

OHT ICT 1.13
14
ICT in Key Stage 2
  • During Key Stage 2 pupils use a wider range of
ICT tools and information sources to support
their work in other subjects. They develop their
research skills and decide what information is
appropriate for their work. They begin to
question the plausibility and quality of
information. They learn how to amend their work
and present it in a way that suits its audience.
