ISSUES 1
  • Why online learning?
  • If so,
  • What kind of online learning?
  • fully remote?
  • adjunctive? (classroom teaching with online as an
    adjunct)

10
ISSUES 2
  • do we proceed as DMI or
  • as part of SA TAFE?
  • are we prepared to provide (find) the money and
    the time?
  • delivery platform - WebCT? Other? None?
  • Firewall - many excellent technologies for online
teaching are inaccessible inside TAFE firewall

    Media)
  • becoming our own ISP
  • professional development models
  • possibility of using Senecas online training
    modules for staff (under license)

12
RECOMMENDATIONS 2
  • Investigate
  • providing all staff with PCs for home use via
    interest free loans
  • -------------------------------------------------
  • maintain link with Seneca
  • -------------------------------------------------
  • Poll all students on
  • PC/Internet access (via enrolment form)
  • desire for online learning

Changing to a Flexible Delivery Culture
Only work teams can implementchange.
Work teams need time to make meaning of
change and need to be empowered to get on with
it in their own way - a way that is based on the
reality of their workplace and not on the
rhetoric of policy.
reluctance to engage does not indicate that
workteams are obdurate or stupid - they just
need the opportunity to make meaning.

Changing to a Flexible Delivery Culture
  • Where does that lead?
  • appropriate professional development and support
  • should professional development take precedence
    over materials development?
