WGC - Memorial Policy
Preface
  • The purpose of this policy is to establish the
    standards and details regarding landscape and
    hardscape Memorials at Wildwood Golf Club
  • The policy addresses Memorials either (1) on
    the course and (2) in or around the remaining
    grounds and facilities
  • The course is all areas considered within the
    field of play
  • Other areas covers inside the lodge, the swimming
    pool and bath house, pro-shop, cart barn,
    maintenance building and all grounds surrounding
    such facilities. It also covers the overflow
    parking areas, practice range and portions of the
    course labeled as out of bounds

Definition
  • Memorials will be defined as landscaping or
    hardscaping that is done in remembrance of
    deceased members of WGC
  • Landscaping covers plants, trees, shrubs, flower
    gardens etc.
  • Hardscaping covers items such as benches,
    boulders, retaining walls, or other donations or
    improvements to the facilities in general

  • Any memorial for WGC must be presented to the
    board for final approval. This is to occur only
    after the appropriate sub-committee has reviewed
    and approved the proposal.
  • All landscaping proposals for the course or
    grounds surrounding the facilities must be
    initially reviewed and approved by the Grounds
    and Greens Committee
  • Hardscaping proposals for the course, the
    maintenance barn, driving range, overflow parking
    lot, cart barn and area surrounding the the pool
    must be initially reviewed and approved by the
    Grounds and Greens Committee
  • Hardscaping proposals for the lodge, pro-shop and
    parking lots must be initially reviewed and
    approved by the House Committee
  • Hardscaping proposals for the pool facility must
    be initially reviewed and approved by the Pool
    Committee

  • Landscaping
  • A tree or shrub donated to the course will be
    recognized via a tag on the Memorial Tree Plaque
    in the lodge. No stone markers or other marking
    means will be on the course.
  • A tree or shrub donated to the remaining grounds
    or facilities will be recognized via a tag on the
    Memorial Tree Plaque in the lodge. Appropriate
    sized stone markers or other marking means can
    also be located within close proximity of the
    item(s) upon approval.
  • A garden or larger planting area can have a
    memorial stone or plaque contained within that
    boundary
  • Hardscaping
  • This can have an appropriate size memorial plaque
    or stone located on the item(s)

  • General
  • A person or group who donates an item(s) or
    monies to procure a memorial will be recognized
    on the Memorial Tree Plaque located in the lodge
  • Tree tags, stones and/or plaques for the
    Memorial, is the financial responsibility of the
    donor(s)

Liability
  • Landscaping
  • WGC is not liable to replace trees, shrubs,
    plants, etc. that fall prey to disease, weather,
    age or vandalism
  • WGC is not liable to replace / maintain memorial
    stones or plaques that are vandalized, stolen or
    wear with age
  • WGC is not liable to maintain a memorial garden
    or larger planting areas
  • Hardscaping
  • WGC is not liable to replace / maintain memorial
    hard-scaping that is vandalized, stolen or wears
    with age
