Registration Policy - Approved
  • The purpose of registration is to maintain a
    national record of all amateur synchronized
    swimmers, coaches, officials, clubs and general
    members. This record is used in a variety of ways
    by the National Office to assist in the provision
    of efficient service to clubs and members of
    Synchro Canada and to satisfy government
    regulations.

Great News!
  • Ontarios Burning Bright for Breast Cancer is
    being adopted by Synchro Alberta. All their
    plans are complete and the Canadian Breast Cancer
    Association is thrilled to have them
    participating!

Quotas
  • Under Review through National Championship
    review.
  • How did it work? Tier 6 athletes benefited
    feedback from the provinces?
  • Push for more? One thought is 16 from each of
    Ontario/Quebec division with a minimum of 5 from
    Ontario

Rule Proposals
  • Quotas for Tier 6 and 7 solos and duets for 2007
    from the Provincial Presidents (from Provincials
    to Divisionals - 16 from Ont/Que 5 from
    Atlantics 5 from Man/Sask 10 from AB/BC) (from
    Divisionals to Nationals 20 from Easterns 5 to
    Atlantics 15 from Westerns)
  • Rule changes from the PDC (development)
  • Tier Level testing date extended to Dec. 31 from
    the 15th.
  • Lower Masters age from 20 to 19.
  • Tier level does not change through competitive
    season regardless of whether the average changes
    due to an athlete leaving.
  • Combining Tiers 5, 6, 7 (Jr) into team format.
    Tier 5 athletes remain ineligible to compete at
    Divisionals and Nationals. (we do this in
    Ontario).
  • Rule changes from the CMT (coaches) Reinstatement
    of Awards for Figures
  • Create a competition stream to facilitate Senior
    athletes continued participation in the sport of
    synchronized swimming. The implementation of
    such a stream will allow athletes to compete, in
    Canada only, in the National Senior Stream, but
    with only a free program.  Athletes competing in
    this stream will not be permitted to travel
    internationally to participate in FINA Senior
    events.

Rule Proposals
  • Rule changes from the PAC (provincial advisory
    committee)
  • Implement April 15th as the date for rule change
    submissions. Remove the 2nd Fall date.
  • Rule change regarding Select team from the
    Kamloops Sunrays
  • A team in Select team must be comprised of
    swimmers from Tier 6 and Tier 7.  omit the
    averaging requirement. add  Teams that
    qualify in any other team category (without
    penalty), do not qualify for Select Team.
  • Rule change from the Rules Leader
  • The figures score for a routine in prelims is the
    average figures score for all the swimmers who
    swim in that routine in prelims. The figures
    score for a routine in finals is the average
    figures score for all the swimmers who swim in
    that routine in finals. See also 6.10.3.Proposed
    Addition to the rule For Select Team the figures
    score for Tier 6 swimmers will be multiplied by a
    Tier Equalization Factor of 1.08 before being
    calculated for the team average.a)      3.10.10
    Quotas for Routines add Exception Should a
    Tier 7 Senior athlete be a member of a Select
    team they are eligible to swim in the Tier 7
    Junior figure competition. Their placing will
    not count in the results.
  • Rule change from Synchro Ontario regarding the
    seeding/drawing for finals only events using
    the figure scores as the criteria for the draw.
