17Dual Frequency for ILT?
- There are applications where UHF works best and
others where HF works best and the industry
should resist attempts to force a
one-size-fits-all solution. - The choice of technologies should not be based
upon the product type submitted to the reader,
not by application the same receiving line will
most likely not receive both pharmaceuticals (HF)
and tires (UHF). - Dual tagging of items is NOT an option!
- Novel antenna concepts, e.g. fractal antennas,
may permit multi-frequency tags
People have a tendency to overestimate technology
in the short term and underestimate it in the
long term - W. Gates

26 The standardization work of ITU-T is carried out
by the technical Study Groups (SGs) in which
representatives of the ITU-T membership develop
Recommendations (standards) for the various
fields of international telecommunications. The
SGs drive their work primarily in the form of
study Questions. Each of these addresses
technical studies in a particular area of
telecommunication standardization. Each SG has a
SG Chairman and a number of vice-chairmen
appointed by the World Telecommunication
Standardization Assembly (WTSA).

2007. Representation included AIAG, Odette, and
JAMA/JAPIA. A joint project was previously
approved to address returnable transport units.
JAMA/JAPIA presented a draft version of this
publication discussed at the April meeting in
Japan. - B-2 VIN Standard RevisionThis document has been
published and allows for additional symbology
(Code 128, Data Matrix, and QR Code.) - B-11 Tire RFID StandardThis document is being
revised to become an item level RFID standard.
Tire-centric information has been moved to an
appendix. - B-17 Direct Part Marking GuidelineThis document
is being revised to allow for new technologies
and recent standards (2006 AIM Direct Part
Marking document and MIL-STD130-N.) - RC-6 Returnable Transport Item GuidelineThis
document attempts to address the best practices
for utilizing RFID. This document addresses
minimum data requirements for radio frequency
tags, as well as globally accepted standards from
ISO and EPCglobal. - UIDS - Unique Identification and Data Sharing
Product markings that identify unique products,
down to the individual item level, are becoming
common with technologies like RFID and 2D symbols.
