Introduction
  • Characteristics of a healthy breakfast include
  • Should include an item from all four food groups
  • Should be low in saturated fat
  • Should include complex carbohydrates
  • Should be rich in dietary fiber
  • Should include components of the six essential
    nutrients (water, protein, carbohydrates, fat,
    minerals, and vitamins)
  • Keep in mind that breakfast is the most
    important meal of the day and should provide
    enough energy for you to start your day
    efficiently.

Task
  • In the following assignment you and your partner
    are going to become familiar with the internet.
  • You and your partner will be responsible for
    locating at least eight beneficial websites that
    possess quality information on healthy and
    unhealthy foods.
  • The purpose of this assignment is for you and
    your partner to locate two recipes. One recipe
    should be of an unhealthy nature, and the other
    should be of a healthy nature.
  • When selecting these recipes keep in mind that
    you are going to be responsible for preparing the
    healthy breakfast recipe that you find. So keep
    it fairly simple.

Process
  • Step 1) Choose a partner
  • Step 2) Locate at least eight sites on the
    internet, relating to breakfast recipes.
  • Step 3) From these sites, choose two recipes in
    which you are going to research further. For
    example the origin of the recipes, where the
    ingredients grow best, what nutrients are
    contained in the ingredients of these recipes,
    what season are these recipes ingredients in
    abundance, etc. (be precise, and go into depth
    when dissecting your recipes)

  • Process cont.
  • -To begin this process start off using a
    search engine. Log on to the internet, or click
    on the links provided, and then use either
    Google or Yahoo and perform a search. Try
    typing in words that you believe are related to
    breakfast.
  • -For example, words such as breakfast foods,
    breakfast recipes, healthy breakfasts, eggs,
    recipes, fast food, fatty foods etc.
  • Step 4) Record this information in your note book
    for further reference at a later date.
