Once upon a time there was a wealthy merchant who
had three daughters.  But , one day, out of the
blue, he lost his entire fortune.  When the
merchant heard that a ship containing his
merchandise had just arrived, he asked his
daughters what they would want him to bring
them.  The two selfish sisters wanted elegant
dresses Beauty, the youngest, only wanted a
rose.  But when the merchant happened upon a
beautiful garden in a castle, and picked a rose,
the beast that lived there became furious and
told the merchant he had to give up his life.

When the merchant returns home with the horrible
news, Beauty decides she will give up her life in
place of her father's.  She is to be the Beast's
companion for the rest of her life. In the
castle, Beast prepares a meal for Beauty and
watches her eat.  He is mesmerized by her beauty
and is grateful to have her with him.  Meanwhile
,they listen to music.

  At the castle, she looks in the mirror and sees
her unhappy father and two sisters.  She wishes
to be with them.

The next morning, Beauty wakes up in her father's
house.  The father and the maid walk in and are
shocked.  They are happy she has come, even if
only for a very short time.

The next night, Beauty has a terrible dream that
the Beast is dying in his garden. When she
awakes she goes straight to him.

When Beauty finds the Beast in the garden she
listens for his heartbeat. She says, From this
moment on I give you my hand in marriage. And I
swear that I will only belong to you. Alas, I
thought that I felt only friendship for you but
the anguish I am feeling makes me realize that I
cannot live without you.

Miraculously , the Beast transforms into a
handsome Prince right before her eyes. The
Beasts curse of ugliness and solitude is broken.

The Prince marries Beauty. Beautys two jealous
sisters witness her happiness and Beauty reunites
with her father. The Prince and Beauty live
happily ever after.
