Church Planting Process
  • The fulfillment of the mission and vision of the
Church Planting Group will be accomplished
through the Church Planting Process, which has
    four key elements
  • Strategic Readiness Creating and sustaining a
climate for church planting, while leading in
strategy design for implementing the Church
    Planting Process.
  • Recruitment Recruiting church planters and
    sponsoring/partnering churches.
  • Mentoring Leading in the assessment,
    training/equipping planters and
    sponsoring/partnering churches.
  • Implementation Facilitating the implementation
of strategies for planting churches among
identified people groups and in specific
    places/environments.

5
Strategy Design
  • Track One Traditional, Institutional
  • Track Two Non-traditional, non-institutional
    (lay, Multihousing, house, Bivocational)

6
NAMB Continental Strategy Six Major Ministry
Objectives
  • Equip for Evangelism
  • Work in cooperation with state conventions and
associations to assist churches to reach and
    baptize new believers.
  • Assist in Church Planting
  • Work in cooperation with state conventions and
associations to assist Southern Baptist churches
to plant healthy, multiplying churches in North
    America.
  • Mobilize Christians
  • Provide resources and opportunities that are
contextualized to assist all churches to involve
their members in North American missions.

7
Six Major Ministry Objectives contd.
  • Deploy Missionaries
  • Affirm the high calling of missionaries and
chaplains and mobilize them to reach all people
    groups in North America.
  • Penetrate the Cultures
  • Encourage and facilitate a movement of On Mission
Christians and next generation leaders who
faithfully take the gospel into the
marketplaces of North America through media
    saturation, professional influence, and
    involvement in Acts 18 activity.
  • Develop Leaders, Strategies and Resources
  • To develop innovative leaders, strategies, and
resources that facilitate and support the
    accomplishment of NAMBs Continental Strategy.

8
People Groups/Rapid Church Multiplication (RCM)
  • Large numbers of unreached and under-reached
people groups and population segments are not
being evangelized through church planting. One
reason is because their presence and their
lostness is hidden too many of our churches.
Another reason they are not being reached stems
from the use of non-missiological church planting
methods that are most effective for starting
    contextual, multiplying churches among people
groups and population segments with different
    cultures and worldviews.
  • Some statistics about SBC churches to population
    ratios
  • The combined population of Canada and the U.S. is
    323.5 million people (Canada 31.1 million U.S.
    and territories 292.4 million).SBC membership
of approximately 16 million people is 5 of the
    population
  • Factor in the non-resident member numbers and the
    percentage goes down considerably

Church Planting Institute
  • The Church Planting Institute is intended to
facilitate better missional thought in our
    agency, partnerships, planters, and denomination
    through research, writing, and conferences.
  • The Church Planting Institute provides a means
for the Church Planting Group to better inform
the SBC, our partners, and the broader
    evangelical community in biblical missiology
    through research, writing, and conferencing.

14
Church Planting Institute contd.
  • The Church Planting Institute will publish a book
each year that engages, informs, and promotes
North American ministry with a missional focus.
The Church Planting Institute will plan
conferences focused on emerging leaders that
promote missional thought leading to church
