  • The obvious such as doing well in courses
  • Possibly shadow an orthopaedic surgeon
  • Summer research, preferably ortho

  • Study hard for Step 1

    rotation
  • Do well on clinical rotations

  • Dont forget about shelf exams
  • If you dont know, say I dont know

  • Start on CV and personal statement
  • Apply for aways early
  • Front load your fourth year schedule

  • Try to read and learn as much as possible
  • Only schedule aways at places you are willing to
    go
  • Have CV/PS ready for LOR writers
  • See as many patients/operations as you can
