Workshops
  • Marsupial master class - Michelle Ward and Matt
    Hartley
  • Ophthalmology master class - Dr. Korbel
  • Sampling for laboratory testing - Dr. Dorrestein
    and Dr. Kuipel
  • ""What you send that's what you get!. The
    workshop will be an open discussion, guided by
    short presentations on what, where and how of
    sample collection. Part of the workshop will be a
    practical session in sample collection and direct
    evaluation by the participant on what you take
    that's what you get.
  • Avian endoscopy Practical endoscopy class in
    avian endoscopy led by two experienced tutors.
  • Ultrasonography - Dr. Thomas Hildebrandt
  • The half day ultrasound workshop will present
    different ultrasonographic applications in
    various species using a variety of ultrasound
    systems. Besides practical demonstrations
    participants will have the opportunity to train
    under professional guidance. Participants will
    receive a workshop certificate.
  • Plant toxicology - Wolfram Rietschel
  • Following a lecture on plant toxicology in zoos,
    participants will have a guided tour of Edinburgh
    zoo with the workshop instructors and the head
    gardener of the zoo.
  • Some workshops will have a limited number of
    spaces and will be allocated on a first come
    basis.

Social program
  • Ice breaker at Edinburgh Zoo mansion house
  • Wednesday evening 16th of May
  • Meet and greet colleagues over an aperitif
    against the back drop of the zoo and Edinburgh
    city

Whisky tasting
  • A one hour guided whisky tasting session of four
    single malt whiskies in Edinburghs old town.
  • Transport will be provided to the venue only, so
    stay in the city centre after the tasting, to
    sample Edinburgh's restaurants and the atmosphere
    of the old town in the evening.

Conference banquette at the Royal Museum of
Scotland
  • Experience the Scottish cuisine followed by a
    Ceilidh (Scottish dancing) in the foyer of the
    museum.
  • Delegates should wear
    evening wear

    costume

Day trip to the Highland Wildlife Park
  • Following the conference
  • there is the opportunity to visit
  • the Royal Zoological Society of
  • Scotlands Highland Wildlife Park.
