Artist Statement
  • Art has been in my life for as long as I can
remember. From having art once a week in
elementary school, to going to art class everyday
in middle school and high school, are has always
been there. With all the stresses and high
standards in the world today, art is a release
for me. I want to create art that reflects me
and my feelings during a certain time in my life.
  • In my art, I use my mood to determine my
subjects, colors, and media. When I am feeling
happy or excited, the colors I use are vibrant
and neat. When I am upset, my artwork reflects
that by using dark colors and more undefined
lines and brush strokes. The medium I prefer most
is using oil paints. I went from not being able
to paint at all, to creating amazing oil
paintings. I found that is the medium that works
best for me, and I look forward to learning more
    techniques.
  • My work today is constantly improving. I look
back at my sketchbooks from Art I, Art II, and
Art III Honors and I see improvement in all
areas. I want to explore with new mediums, such
as acrylic paints and ink wash.. Practice and
the desire for perfection have led me to improve
and strive to push boundaries of what I already
know. I look forward to learning more and
getting even better with my artwork.

4
Creative Color Wheel
  • This is a 12 x 6 creative color wheel I did in
Art II. I also included lyrics written with ink
and a calligraphy pen in the background. The
eyes show a city at night surrounded by bright
colors, all of which are colors on the color
wheel. The song I used the lyrics of is The City
    that Never Sleeps by Cartel.

5
Screen Printing
  • This is the first screen printing Ive ever done.
I created a design based on my favorite band,
Thursday, by using their logo dove, and creating
a font that stood out. I transferred the image
onto a canvas tote bag. Its a great feeling when
I get complimented on it, and can say I made it
    myself!

6
Creative Teapot and Teacup
  • This is a 5 x 10 teapot and a 2 ½ x 3 ½
teacup I made using clay. I used clay slabs to
create both the teapot and cup. I used a very
geometric form making them both square, but
including rounded handles for variety. I glazed
them both with the same glaze. These are by far
one of the best projects I have ever done.

7
NC State Fair Horse Design
  • These are three 12 x 18 colored pencil designs
I created under the theme Seriously Twisted Fun
for the NC State Fair. I included all views of
the horse, showing the different ideas and
details I would include on each part if my design
    was chosen.

8
Street Painting Festival
  • This is a 12 x 12 colored pencil design I
created for the Raleigh Street Painting Festival.
Although this design never made it onto the
concrete, I love the variety of colors I used and
amount of detail I was able to include.

9
Photography Project
  • This is a 640 x 480 jpg picture I took for my
photography project. The theme of all my pictures
was my pug, George. This picture is a close up,
which allows you to see the different texture in
    his face and fur.

10
Painting Project
  • This is a 18 x 24 oil painting I did of the
singer, Gwen Stefani. This is the first oil
painting Ive done, and I fell in love with them.
I loved the way this turned out, and the way I
was able to achieve many values by mixing and
    blending the paints.

11
Final Art III Honors Project
  • This is an 18 x 24 oil painting. It is a
self-portrait. The picture shown to the right is
still in a non-complete stage. This is by far the
best piece of art I have ever done and am proud
to say it is of myself.

12
Self Portrait
  • This is a 18 x 24 oil painting of myself. It
is painted in an unusual angle. I used a picture
reference, although it was challenging to create
the painting in an unusual angle.

13
Color Project
  • This is a 24 x 18 oil painting of my parents.
I used a picture reference to create my painting.
Although it was hard to see the very tiny
details in the picture, I did the best I could to
incorporate features that make my parents stand
    out.

14
Life Portrait
  • This is a 18 x 12 pencil drawing of myself. I
used a mirror propped on top of a stack of books
    to draw me.

15
3-D Sculpture
  • This is a 3-D sculpture made of plaster. I
plastered both of my hands in the position of
holding a guitar pick and drum stick, to
represent my love of music. The sculpture is
placed on top of an array of CDs to also
    emphasize my love of music.

16
Calligraph Print
  • This is a print of the old house I used to live
in in NJ. I used black ink for this print. I
used a picture of my old house as a reference, so
I could get down to the tiniest details.

17
Calligraph Print
  • This is a color print of my old house in New
Jersey. I used a mixture of purple and teal ink
to achieve the colors in the print.

18
Mural
  • This is a picture of the mural I helped paint,
for Sussical the Musical. It is done in lots of
different colors of wall paint. The photograph
to the left is a picture of the mural in the
process of being painted. Im glad to leave this
as my mark on Middle Creek.
