  • The Fort Richardson Safety Office announces the
    presentation of the
  • FRA Unit Safety Officer Course (USOC).
  • Date / Time 13 - 14 Sep 05, 0900-1700 daily.
    - - - Uniform BDU
  • Location Lee Reserve Center, Bldg 45-580
    (Otter Lake Road)
  • Note Full attendance both days is required in
    order to receive credit for the course and a
    certificate of completion.
  • Requirement IAW AR 385-10 and USARAK Reg.
    385-1, commanders at all levels are to appoint an
    individual to serve as the Unit Safety Officer
    (USO). Per AR 385-10 this is a SSG or above at
    company level and a commissioned officer at
    Battalion/higher level. Although not required,
    it is recommend, that an NCO be appointed as
    assistant to the USO at the BN/Bde level.
  • Prerequisite Per CDR USARPAC Letter, 09 Mar 05,
    individuals designated as USO are to complete the
    online Additional Duty Safety Course (ADSC).
    This course is available through the Army Combat
    Readiness Center (ACRC) web site at

  • access via the USARAK Safety Mission webpage.
  • NOTE It is imperative that attendees complete
    this on line course, prior to attending the local
    FRA Safety Officer Course.
  • Course Objective This course is designed to
    provide the designated USO (Company Brigade
    level) with information, guidance, and material
    necessary to develop, implement, and manage a
    unit level Safety Program.
  • Curriculum The course POI is centered on
    overall program management, administrative
    requirements, inspection requirements and
    techniques, and POV accident prevention. It also
    covers safety considerations in the training and
    operational environment, and the overall
    wellbeing of soldiers.
  • Target Audience The primary target is the newly
    assigned Unit Safety Officer/NCO. Commanders
    and their CSMs/1SGs are encouraged to attend.
    Other officers and NCOs are encouraged to attend
    as well.
