  • MusicFilipino music includes ancient melodies
    played on cleverly made bamboo flutes or on
    century-old bronze gongs. Filipino music also
    includes concerts by symphonies or rock music by
    local bands. Many lively songs and dances,
    accompanied by guitars, reflect a Spanish
    influence.
  • The Schools in the Philippines are set up in
    communities and kids are taught by teachers in
    the community. Universities are more advanced and
    some are international universities.

    or woodland.
  • Among the trees are the banyan, many varieties of
    palm, trees yielding rubber, and many indigenous
    trees with extremely hard wood such as apitong,
    yacal, lauan, camagón, ipil, white and red narra,
    and mayapis.
  • Bamboo and cinnamon, clove, and pepper plants
    grow wild, as do numerous species of orchid.
  • The most important animals are the domesticated
    water buffalo called the carabao, several species
    of deer, wild and domesticated pigs, the
    mongoose, and a variety of humped cattle.
  • Reptiles are numerous, and the islands contain
    about 760 species of birds, including colorful
    parrots.

  • The economy of the Philippines is predominantly
    agricultural, although manufacturing has grown
    considerably since 1945.
  • According to the constitution, all land and water
    in the public domain and all natural resources
    are state-owned and can be exploited only by
    Philippine citizens or organizations controlled
    by Philippine citizens.
  • Jobs are mostly in the agriculture industry.
    Their natural resources are mainly of the land
    and they use these land resources to support
    their economy.
  • Some economic issues are that the country exports
    locally produced marijuana and hashish to East
    Asia, the US, and other Western markets serves
    as a transit point for heroin and crystal
    methamphetamines.

    1521, when the Portugese navigator Ferdinand
    Magellan discovered them during his
    circumnavigation of the earth in the service of
    Spain.
  • The first humans in the Philippine Islands are
    thought to have come from China and the Malayan
    Archipelago some 250,000 years ago, during the
    Ice Age, but few remains from that time have been
    discovered.
  • Their Independence Day (from Spain) is June 12,
    1898.

    murky surface of many lakes. The Philippines are
    a very interesting tourist spot.

    it is broken up into natural regions with the
    break-up of the islands.
