Relative Arrested in Killings of Six Family
Members
  • Leola, Pennsylvania - Police arrested a man
    Thursday in the gruesome killing of six relatives
    in his grandmother's home
  • The victims were killed last weekend and
    apparently died of multiple traumatic injuries by
    Jesse Dee Wise, 21
  • Wise's 64-year-old grandmother, Emily Wise two
    of her daughters two of her grandchildren, ages
    5 and 19 and a 17-year-old relative were
    identified as the victims, said East Lampeter
    Township police Chief John Bowman
  • Discovery of the bodies was in the three-story
    house in Leola, a small village in Lancaster
    County's rural Amish country, followed a phone
    call from Emily Wise's husband to a friend asking
    him to check on his family.
  • Jesse Dee Wise is jailed and awaiting trail.

Gas Prices are Expected to Rise During the Summer
-Gas prices have already jumped nearly 33 cents,
or almost 14 percent, in the last month. And now
gas will be 25 cents higher than last year. Last
year a gallon of regular unleaded gas was 2.37
and soon, it is expected to be about 2.62.
Some places are even expected to raise gas prices
to 3.00 such as AAA's Sundstrom and in other
high-price markets like California. Not only
will the price of unleaded gas rise, but diesel
prices will as well

Will Robots replace Receptionists?
A Japanese temp agency wants robotic rentals
modeled after characters like Hello Kitty to man
the front desk. -In February, Nagoya-based
People Staff launched a service called Robot
Dispatch For 424 a month - or one-sixth the
cost of one of the firm's human temps - Japanese
companies can rent an electronic receptionist
shaped like Hello Kitty. -Manufactured by
Business Design Laboratory, also based in Nagoya.
The 20-inch-tall Hello Kitty Robo can recognize
as many as 10 faces, ask visitors to speak their
names, and tell them when the person they have
come to see is ready. It is programmed with
20,000 conversation patterns, songs and riddles.
Not only are they entertaining but also cheaper
than human receptionists.

Robotic 'Crusher' Ready to Roll Into Combat

Snake Robots Could Aid in Rescues
  • At Carnegie Mellon University, an industry
    breakthrough enabling the articulated,
    remote-controlled devices to climb up and around
    pipes.

Built from lightweight aluminum or plastic, the
robots are about the size of a human arm or
smaller. They can sense which way is up, but
are only as good as their human operators.
Our dream is to have the snake robot thread
through this collapsed rubble and get to victims
