Connecting classrooms - projects
  • Sub-Saharan Africa clusters of 3 UK schools
    form partnerships with 2 similar clusters from
    different African countries (9 schools in total)
    83 partnerships exist at present involving 772
    schools (in 18 African countries and the UK).

  • UKIERI (UK India Education and Research
    Initiative). Clusters of 4 schools in the UK
    link with clusters of 6 in India next deadline
    will be in April.

  • Middle East A UK secondary school links with
    two schools from the Middle East (a boys school
    and a girls school) currently recruiting for
    two events in the summer term.

    Bangladesh) (clusters of three schools and
    involvement of the LA or similar working with a
    cluster of five on intercultural dialogue, active
    citizenship, skills for employment) Please

    Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan) clusters
    of 10 secondary schools carry out projects on
    Enterprise, Tomorrows World, Science and
    Invention, Climate Change, Sports and Health -
    Project jointly designed by the BC and the QCA
    (and similar organisations in the other countries

Cluster modelEach cluster consists
of 8 schools five schools in Pakistan will
partner with three schools in the UK to make a
cluster

    private school and a madrassah

Next steps
  • Talk to teachers and pupils in each school to get
    involvement and project ideas
  • Put together a group of three schools spanning
    the entire age range
  • Talk about the benefits and challenges of working
    in a cluster
  • Think about the issues of equity within the
    partnership
  • Complete the application form
  • Decide who will represent the cluster at the
    contact seminar in June (two school
    representatives plus one from the LA)

    the UK schools is likely to set the agenda and
    take the lead in the partnership.

  • When you visit my country you are an honoured
    guest, when I visit your country I am seen as a
    resource
  • African participant in school linking programme

Community Cohesion
  • Mainstream schools and supplementary schools
    together with a partner school in another country
    on joint projects around community languages to
    support the global dimension in education.
  • Grant of up to 5000 available to support joint
    visit by the UK side plus joint curriculum work
