Program Changes
  • The minimum experience requirement to be Gold
Seal certified via exam moves from three years to
    five. Applicants holding provincial CSO
certificates which conform to the Canadian
    Federation of Construction Safety Associations
(CFCSA) standard, as well as applicants holding
CEC and PQS certificates from the Canadian
Institute of Quantity Surveyors, will continue to
enjoy automatic eligibility to write the Gold
Seal exam until January 1, 2010. Following this
date they will also require a minimum of five
    years experience in the industry.
  • Formal education and training requirements have
been combined into one section and the point
system has been changed from 5 pts for high
school to 30 pts for a university industry
related degree. Also, 1 point will be given for
every 6 hours of training/industry courses.
  • Foreign experience for exam applicants now counts
so long as the individuals have a minimum of two
    years of experience in Canada.

Gold Seal as Your HR Strategy
  • Consider using Gold Seal as your firms HR
strategy to recruit and retain the best!
  • A firms performance is nothing but the
performance of its employees, and the performance
of these people is quite simply the product of
two main factors ability and motivation. Both
of these factors are controllable thus making
human resource management the single most
contributing factor to the success, or failure,
    of an individual organization.

13
Gold Seal as Your HR Strategy
  • The Companies we see are using the certification
  • framework to target the training activities that
    both
  • the individuals and the company are short on.
  • Meet the needs of the employee and the company
  • Individualize the program
  • Provide public recognition and reward
  • Draw on your college and your construction
    association

14
Factors for Success
  • Many factors explain why the program has become
    what it is.
  • First, in a number of jurisdictions across Canada
    provincial governments, municipalities and
private buyers are asking that successful bidders
demonstrate management competence by way of Gold
Seal certifications in the project team.
  • Second, for many firms Gold Seal has become an
important part of their HR strategy and is now
built into their corporate culture. To them, Gold
Seal equals continued education, commitment to
    excellence and performance.
  • Third, Gold Seal offers employees a clear avenue
of promotion and reward. Certified Gold Seal
Managers know that their certification is tied to
    recruiting and retention, compensation and
advancement. This is why many chose to seek the
    P.GSC designation.
  • Fourth, the National Gold Seal Committee has
never ceased to maintain and update its every
component, thus preserving the high integrity and
    credibility of the program.

15
Its all about partnership
  • The Gold Seal program has indeed reached new
    heights
  • and CCA wishes to recognize the contribution made
    by
  • Its Partner Associations who over the years have
  • Provided front-line information services to make
    Gold
  • Seal a far more visible and valuable member
    service.
