COMPUTER SOFTWARE, CDs, DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY,
and DVDs

We do not have many CDs, but careful handling is
important.

When handling a computer disk, CD, or DVD, even
your fingerprint or a particle of cigarette smoke
is thicker than the distance between the disk and
the read/write head!

Eating and drinking at a computer is not
recommended!

Computers will work better if you take care of
all your equipment including the disks.

Disks should never be put into your backpack,
notebook, or purse unless it is in a protective
case. CDs and DVDs should be kept in a hard
case, not a paper or plastic sleeve.

Most disks are kept at the reserve desk. Check
out is the same as for books. If you find a disk
in a book, please bring it and the book to
Ms.Brannan.

These are disks for digital cameras. None check
out! Give all you find to Ms. Shirley.

Do not use tattle tape with CDs, DVDs, or
videos. Do not sensitize, nor desensitize
these items.

Computers have an internal cooling system. Be
sure the vents are not blocked.

Static electric can be damaging to both the
computer disks and the equipment. Static
electric is that shock you sometimes get in cold
winter weather when you touch a door knob, and
the static that makes clothes cling together when
you remove them from the drier . It can also
make your hair stand straight up!

Caution if your hair stands on end when you are
outside, it may be a sign that lightening is
about to strike!
