JEWISH PEOPLE
In fact, the really large influx of Jews to the
Balkans began after 1492, when they were driven
away from Spain. At this particular point, the
Turkish sultan allowed the refugees to settle in
the Ottoman Empire, and they were tolerantly
treated both by the authorities and by the
population of the Peninsula as a whole. These
migrants came to be known as Sefarades, whose
language came from Spanish and who now constitute
90 per cent of the Bulgarian Jews. Besides, the
following centuries saw the migration to Bulgaria
of Eskenazi Jews, mainly from the German lands
their language, Yiddish, is a German dialect.
Unlike the Sefarades, they were received with
hostility, which waned with time. The one-time
Romagnotes, in turn, were assimilated, without a
trace, by these two groups

Passover
  •     Each spring (March/April), day 14 of the
first month, is celebrated the liberation of the
Egyptian slavery. The day of independence, with
which the Jewish religious calendar begins. It is
not celebrated with parades nor fireworks, but
with a great service of adoration to God... and
every Jew who could would go to Jerusalem, Jesus
was every year.    There are always involved in
the Passover 2 facts The liberation from Egypt
by the blood of the lamb, and the pass of the Red
See to a new life.    In Christianity, there are
the same two events The liberation from sin at
the Cross, and the pass to a new life in the
Resurrection... Baptism reminds us both features
The immersion in water is the death in Christ,
the coming out of the water is the resurrection
    to a new life

In the Passover Meal, Cedar or Seder, early in
the ceremony the father uncovers the three matzot
which lie in front of him in a three-pocketed
napkin.  He takes out the middle matzo, breaks it
in half, takes the larger half and wraps it in a
napkin and hides it somewhere under his cushion.
One of the children will try to steal it away
and claim a price if successful. Otherwise it
will lie there "buried" until the service is
over.    Then, it will suddenly appears, it will
be taken out and broken into small pieces and
distributed to the members of the family.   This,
too, is a symbol of the Passover of which
everyone was to participate.   This matzot, since
it had been broken, has become the aphikomen, a
word apparently derived from the Greek, meaning,
"I arrive," or "I come to.

Feast of the Unleavened Bread
Matzah is bread made without leaven. It is a
picture of sanctification, as Jesus (Yeshua) was
buried. Leaven is representative of sin, and
corruption Jesus paid for all our sins, He
cleansed out the old leaven...Sin!.The unleavened
bread is a type of the sinless Christ It
has a beautiful and practical meaning It means
the total forgiveness of any old leaven, of any
old bad deed... forgive and forget!... no more
old leaven, no more to remember ever any bad deed
done by the husband or wife or relative.
6
Firstfruits
The last day of the Unleavened Bread is the
celebration of the Firstfruits (Yom HaBikkurim),
taking to the Temple the first fruit, the first
born animal, the first sheaf of barley.it is
symbolic of Jesus being the first of the
Firstfruits.    Christians celebrate the Death
and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, about the same
dates. The Liberation from the slavery of Satan,
of sin, and the new life in Christ, "So if the
Son sets you free, you will be free indeed    It
was no coincidence that Jesus chose the Passover
to institute the Eucharist, the Holy Mass, on the
Last Supper, with the proclamation of the New
Covenant in His Blood
7
Shavuot -Pentecost
"Pente", "fifty"... 50 days after Passover, the
feast of Pentecost, celebrating the giving of the
Ten Commandments to Moses at Mount Sinai, 50 days
after the Passover of the Red See and it was in
the days of the harvest of the wheat.
Christians celebrate Pentecost as the coming of
the Holy Spirit 50 days after the Resurrection
of Jesus   when the Church was born officially...
and God recorded the laws, not on stone, like at
Sinai, but   in the mind and heart of every
Christian, the law of love of Christ,

Rosh Hashanah
The Civil New Year of the Jews is the first day
of the seventh month, on September or October,
and it is the beginning of 10 days of penance, to
request pardon, and to begin a new life... and
will finish with the Day of Expiation, the Yom
Kippur. For Christians, the trumpets will announce
the Second Coming of Jesus Christ For the Lord
himself will come down from heaven, with a loud
command, with the voice of the archangel and with
the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ
will rise first. After that, we who are still
alive and are left will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

YOM KIPPUR
It is the most sacred day of the Jewish calendar,
the only day that the High Priest can enter the
Holy of Holies to make expiation for himself and
for the People... devoted to fasting, prayer, and
repentance.
10
It is the last day of the 10 previous ones of
penance of Rosh Hashanah, and it usually falls on
October.
11
For Christians     - It is Final Judgment and
it may fall on a Yom Kippur as Calvary fall on a
Passover
12
In the O.T. God was hidden after a veil, and the
man was behind the veil... but that "veil" was
torn the day of the crucifixion, in Mat.2751,
and now we can enter into the presence of God at
any time, because Christ has laid the way to us.

14
It is the last celebration of the year prescribed
by the Law, 5 days after the Yom Kippur, on
October. It is a festival of joy and practical
celebration for 7 days, commemorating the 40
years that the Israelites lived in the desert in
tents... "Sukkot" means "tent", "booths".
15
The whole family leaves home, and for 7 days they
live in a tent, in a booth, without light nor
refrigerators nor toilets... they have a good
time and unites the family... and finally they
give thanks to God realizing the many good things
God has given them today at home.
16
It brings to the memory the fact that the People
of God was punished to wander by the desert for
40 years, because of their disobedience, but, in
spite of it, God was faithful, and brought them
to the Promised Land.
