Admissions
  • Prospective students must apply to the graduate
    school
  • Use of the online application is encouraged
  • Processing time is shortened (2-3 weeks)
  • Recommenders can submit recommendations online
  • Program directors have access to applicant
    information during the application process
  • Decision letters can be sent electronically
  • Completed applications sent to program director
    for review
  • Program director coordinates review of
    application by program faculty
  • May include phone or campus interviews

Spring 2006 Admission Deadlines
  • Last Day for Evaluation Recommendation Form to
    be submitted to the Graduate School
  • January 23, 2006 12 noon
  • After this day, only non-degree status will be
    allowed for Spring semester

Consider Application Deadlines and Decision Dates
  • Programs should consider deadlines for
    applications that will be given priority
    consideration
  • Initial group of applications can be reviewed and
    ranked
  • Programs should consider Decision Dates
  • Informs prospective students of when decision
    letters will go out
  • Graduate School will ask for a response from all
    students being offered acceptances with a set
    respond by date

Graduate Assistantship Appointments
  • Kim Wickersham
  • Fall 2005 appointments completed
  • Spring 2005 appointments due on December 15, 2005
    if students are to receive paycheck without
    delay.
  • Last day for Graduate Assistantship appointments
    for Spring is
  • January 13, 2006 (GTAs)
  • January 20, 2006 (GRAs and GSAs)
  • Students will receive paychecks late
  • Notify the Graduate School when an assistantship
    is terminated.

Tuition Waivers
  • Graduate Assistantships are attached to
    assistantships
  • Program directors should make sure that students
    understand that waivers are to be used for
    courses that apply towards their degree

  • Your assessment plans should have already been
    submitted
  • Data collection should be occurring this year
  • Goal of assessment is to use data to continually
    improve our programs

(GAANN) Program
  • Program provides fellowships in areas of national
    need to assist graduate students with excellent
    academic records who demonstrate financial need
    and plan to pursue the highest degree available
    in their courses of study.
  • Estimated Range of Awards- 126,000 - 253,000
  • Estimated Average Size of Awrds 211,000
  • Estimated Number of Awards 96
  • Project Period Up to 36 month.
