Introduction

• In 1979, OCAW requested a study of the health
  effects from occupational exposures at the
  Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant (PORTS). A
  cohort study revealed statistically
  non-significant elevated SMRs . In 2001, NIOSH
  was asked by DoE to conduct studies at the
  Paducah plant.
• The Universities of Louisville, Kentucky, and
  Cincinnati commenced a NIOSH-funded study of the
  workforce through 2003.
