Introduction

• Cholesterol is a fat found in blood,bile,and
  brain tissue. It is a component of most cell
  membranes and serves as a precursor to bile
  acids, steroids and vitamin D. The determination
  of serum cholesterol is a major aid in the
  diagnosis and classification of lipidemias,such
  as hypercholestemia (high cholesterol levels),
  which can lead to heart disease.
