Title: Modeling Multiple-Allele Genes in NetLogo

1
Modeling Multiple-Allele Genes in NetLogo
  • By Max Harmony and Haven Mills
  • Jim Lyons, mentor

2
What we did
  • We decided to investigate how the color gene is
carried through generations if it is controlled
    by four alleles.
  • We developed a model in NetLogo.
  • We used the model to see what would happen with
    different starting populations.

3
Our Genes
  • The gene for color in our model has four
    variations, or alleles B, b, R, r.
  • The capital letters represent dominant forms, and
    lower case, recessive.
  • Dominant forms give darker colors.
  • There are ten different pairings possible BB,
Bb, bb, Br, br, RR, Rr, rr Rb, RB.
