Getting Started Suggestion for Web Reporter
Users
  • If you will be using Web Reporter, create and
    save a document named My Info in Word or Notepad.
    Copy and paste your Class Code and Student ID to
    this document add security information.
  • My Info
  • Class Code 27adb6b70aa0fca0009 (example only)
  • Student ID
  • Security Question
  • Security Answer

Getting Started To Copy and Paste
  • Locate the Class Code provided by your
    instructor.
  • Select the Class Code (double-click it or drag
    your mouse through it until you have it selected)
  • Press CTRL C to copy
  • Press CTRL V to paste

Create Student Record
  • Install the software and launch it.
  • New Student dialog box displays. Click New User
    button on the Log In screen.

  • Working at school Select your class from the
    drop down list. Ignore Class Code field
  • Web Reporter A Class will not be available.
    Instead copy and paste the Class Code from your
    instructor.
  • Record your security data in My Info document
    (slide 2)

Web Reporter Users Student ID
  • Once you complete the New Student information,
    you will receive a Student ID.
  • Copy and Paste this number to My Info document
    (see slide 2).

  • Your instructor may require you to take the Skill
    Analysis timed writing.

Send Files to Web Reporter
  • Click Send File from either the Lesson menu.
    Your student record transfers automatically if
    you are connected to the Internet.
  • Documents created and saved in the word processor
    must be attached click Attach and choose the
    files to upload.
  • Note Beginning in Lesson 26, Word 2007
    documents will upload after being checked if you
    are connected to the Internet as you are working.
    If you are not working online, click Attach and
    attach the specific documents just completed.

Web Reporter Student ID and Class Code
  • To display within the program, click Options,
    then View ID from the Main menu toolbar.
  • Print and keep this with the information in a
    safe place.

  • To log out, click Yes.
  • Should I send my student record to the Web
    Reporter?
  • Yes, even if you have already sent it, answer
    Yes as a backup procedure.

Should I Export My Student Record?
  • Export transfers your student record from the
    hard drive or server to your flash drive
    (portable device).
  • Click Yes if your most recent work is on the
    hard drive and you need to transfer your record
    to a flash drive,
  • Click No if you are saving to the hard drive
    (home computer) and have no reason to save your
    work to a flash drive.
  • If you are a distance learning student
    always working at home, answer No each time.

Export Student Record
  • Export transfers the student record from a hard
    drive or server to the students flash drive (or
    from the current location to a second location).
  • To export, browse to locate your flash drive
    click Export.

Logging in After the First Time
  • Select your name from the Log In screen.
  • Enter your password.
  • Decide whether to import your student record.

Should I Import my Student Record?
  1. Import your data file if you want to transfer
    your student record from the flash drive to the
    hard drive/server. Browse to locate the flash
    drive.
  2. If you are a distance learning student, answer
    no.

Forgot Password??
  • Select your name at the Log in screen.
  • Enter your security answer it must match the
    information you entered originally.
  • Click Get Password it will display.

What If I Must Transfer My Student Record to
Another Computer?
  • Locate on-line student This feature enables you
    to download your student record from the Web
    Reporter to a computer tdifferent than the one on
    which you created your student record.
  • From the Log in dialog box, click Locate on-line
    student.
  • Copy and paste data exactly as it appears in your
    student record. (See My Info document) Your
    student record will download.
