Whats Expo?
  • Expo was an Exposition about countries all over
    the world, that happened here, back in 1998.
  • Only some pavillions were demolished, most things
    are just like they were back then, and its all
    very modern and beautiful.

Pavilhão Atlântico
  • That is the atlantic pavillion, where many
    concerts are given, actually, the best of them
    all happen here.
  • It resembles a of a ships inside
  • 20.000 people can fit in there.

Torre Vasco da Gama
  • This tower was named after a great portuguese
    sailor, like our school, or the biggest
    portuguese bridge, Vasco da Gamas bridge, just
    around the corner.
  • Its a 145 meters (475.721 feet) steal structure.
  • Also built for the International Exposition.

Ponte Vasco da Gama
  • The Vasco da Gamas bridge is the biggest bridge
    in Portugal, and even in Europe. Its 17,2 km. It
    connects Lisbon to Montijo and Alcochete.

Gare do Oriente
  • Gare do Oriente is known as Gare Intermodal de
    Lisboa (GIL) it is one of the most important
    train station.

Oceanário
  • it remembers an aircraft carrier. Its the second
    biggest oceanario in the world (in 2004) and
    contains an impressive coleccion of species -
    marine birds, mammals, fish and other animals.

Pavilhão de Portugal
  • The building has as an entrance a large sort of
    ceiling, its used to host a number of different
    events, not too big, but no too small either.

Mascote
  • Gil was the official mascote of the EXPO'98.It
    was seletioned out of other 309 projects. Its
    name evokes a great Portuguese navigator (Gil
    Eanes who folded the Cabo do Bojador in 1434).
