A rule of thumb for inferior mirage format
  • If the 1-m temperature is less than 1.7o C (3o F)
    cooler - no mirage.
  • If the 1-m temperature is around 2.8o C (5o F)
    cooler - a moderate mirage.
  • If the 1-m temperature is greater than 4.4o C (8o
    F) cooler - a strong mirage.
