Title: STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

1
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
  • Look at professional publications see how they
    do things.
  • Go online and find text and images that you can
use to build and illustrate your document.
  • Always make a list of your sources and give
    proper credit.
  • If you cannot find the text you need, write it
    yourself.
  • If you need information go and get it. Ask
    someone. Interview someone.
  • If you need pictures, get a digital camera and
    take them.
  • Make a new folder for each project. Put all of
the resources that you collect for this project
    into this folder.

2
COMPLETED MEANS DONE WELL
  • Done according to instructions. Done
    professionally.
  • If a project is not done well it will be returned
for additional work. There is no credit for
    partial completion.
  • There is no failure but it is common for some
reworking to be required. If one student takes
longer to finish a project than another -- no
problem we do not operate on the assumption
that everyone moves at the same pace.
  • We will make every effort to have a "go-by" -- an
example -- to show what a correctly completed
    project should look like.
  • Dont start on a second project until the first
    one is completed.
  • Choose a project from the catalog of projects.
There is no time limit for finishing any
particular project except the end of the semester.

SAVE YOUR OWN STUFF
  • The computers at school are not secure. Your
    stuff may get deleted.
  • Here are a couple of ways to safely save your
    stuff.
  • Get a memory stick. These cost from 20-50. Put
it on a lanyard and wear it around your neck.
  • Attach your files to an email and mail them to
yourself. This is free and puts your files on a
    remote mail server.
  • Use an online backup space. This is free and you
can access your files from anywhere.
  • When you ignore this advice, fail to make a
backup and lose your files dont come crying to
    me.

4
FRIDAY IS SHOW AND TELL DAY
  • We cant wait to see the great work that you do.
  • When you finish a project and get it signed off,
schedule some show and tell time with the class
    executive.
  • Fridays are fun days! On Fridays we will kick
back and have a chance to see the great work that
    everyone is doing.
  • As you work on each project, think about the best
way to show it to the class. This is your moment
    to shine.

5
EVERY PROJECT HAS A SOURCE LIST
  • Keep track of your sources.
  • Always give proper credit.
  • The list of sources is part of every project!
  • You cannot get a project signed off without this.
  • As you work on each project, take the time to
record sources and give proper credit to the
writers, photographers, and artists that made the
    material that you are using.

6
HOW TO GET AN A
  • Finish nine projects before the end of the
    semester. Thats it.
  • If you finish one project every two weeks, you
    will be pretty close.
  • Will anyone finish all sixteen projects?!
  • Hard to say. I dont know if we have anyone that
    talented here in Raymond.
  • Well see.
