Body Awareness Me and MY 5 Senses
  • Created By Nicole, Kerri, and Lindsey

2
SMELLING
  • Humans use their noses to smell odors around
    them.
  • Humans can smell many things, but their noses do
not work as well as other animals, such as dogs.
  • Some things smell good, like flowers and perfume,
while other things smell bad, like skunks and
    rotten eggs.

3
SEEING
  • People use their eyes to see the world around
    them.
  • People can see different colors, recognize
different shapes, objects, and even recognize
    many different people.
  • There are people who have lost their ability to
see, so they use their other 4 senses to
    experience the world.

4
TOUCH
  • Skin helps people feel different textures,
    temperatures, and consistencies, like slimy,
    slick, sticky, or soft.
  • The most common way to touch is by using your
fingertips, but every part of a persons skin can
    feel pressure, pain, or temperature.

5
HEARING
  • Ears are the body part that people use to hear
    with.
  • Students hear their teacher all day long during
    school.
  • Hearing helps people communicate with each other
    easily and understand each other.
  • Some people who have lost the ability to hear use
their hands and sight to communicate with others.

6
TASTING
  • People use the taste buds on their tongue to
taste the flavors of food and drinks.
  • People also need their nose in order to taste the
best flavor of food. Smelling the food helps the
    tongue taste the food.
  • The tongue has different areas that like
different tastes. There are areas for sweet,
salty, bitter, and sour on separate parts of the
    tongue.

7
RELATIONSHIPS BETWEENTHE SENSES
  • All of our senses are connected to our brain.
  • Most of the time people are using more than one
sense at a time, especially seeing and hearing.
  • Sometimes people use all of their senses at the
    same exact time.
