What I need to now for competition!
  • Archers shoot 72 arrows from a distance of 70
    meters at a target of 122 cm.
  • Paralympic archery competition is open to male
    and female athletes in the categories
    for amputees, spinal cord injury/wheelchair and
    cerebral palsy/brain injury/stroke.

Classification
  • Archery Standing (ARST) Archers in the Standing
    Class have no disabilities in the arms. The legs
    show loss of muscle strength, co-ordination
    and/or joint mobility. Archers in this class can
    compete sitting in a chair with their feet on the
    ground or standing.
  • Archery Wheelchair 1 (ARW1) Archers in the ARW1
    class have (Quadriplegia or Tetraplegia ). The
    legs are considered non-functional, due to
    amputation and/or similar limitations of
    movement, strength and control. They compete in a
    wheelchair.
  • Archery Wheelchair 2 (ARW2) Archers in the ARW2
    class have paraplegia and limited mobility in the
    lower limbs. These athletes require a wheelchair
    for everyday use and compete in a wheelchair.

Equipment
  • The Bow Two types of bow , the Recurve and
    Compound bow. The Recurve bow is used during the
    Paralympics Games.
  • Arrows Arrows are made of either aluminum or
    carbon graphite. Competition arrows are made of
    carbon graphite with an inner tube of aluminum.
  • Target The target is divided into ten rings in
    five colors, gold in the middle, followed by red,
    blue, black and white with two scoring zones in
    each color. The scores associated with each ring
    increase from one point for the outer ring to ten
    points for hitting the centre ring.
