  European competitive surfing in a relaxed and
  enjoyable environment. Past GromSearch winners
  include Ben Dunn (Old Bar), Stephanie Gilmore
  (Kingscliff), Matt Wilkinson (Copacabana) Owen
  Wright (Culburra) and last years International
  Champion Tyler Newton (USA).

Competition Format

• Surfing heats are usually 20 minutes long4
  contestants in a heatBest TWO rides/waves count
  to a contestants total heat score - Each wave
  scored out of a possible 10 pointsIn the younger
  divisions the series always utilises a unique
  second chance format, guaranteeing contestants
  surf more than once in the event. This promotes a
  friendly contest environment in the early rounds,
  without the immediate elimination pressures of
  standard competition. The different divisions
  are under 16 male female ( the only division
  to participate to the European final)under 14
  male femaleunder 12 male female Additional
  Activities The GromSearch series aims to provide
  fun and engaging activities around the event to
  entertain competitors and their families
  friends who often hang at the event site for a
  large chunk of the day. Prizes are provided as
  awards for promotions. Many other promo
  activities occur throughout the day may
  include- slingshot (using wetsuits as sling)-
  novelty Iron-man/Iron-woma- Grom Olympics with
  multiple activities,We also like to get Groms on
  the commentary team as much as possible The
  expression session is an official part of the
  event program that allows any grom to enter a 20
  minute Expression Session promoting radical
  surfing.The session is judged and multiple
  prizes are awarded for impressive efforts.
