Childrens Centres
  • Long term aim for one in every community i.e.14
    16 in BH
  • Community teams will cover more than one centre
  • 5 initial Childrens Centres for 0-4s based on
    Sure Start approach by spring 2006
  • Stage 2
  • Will be rolling out a further 9 centres by spring
    2008
  • So 2 stages - service for every family to start
    with then development of childrens centres with
    additional services

  • Childrens Centres will provide access to
  • early education and childcare 0-4
  • family support and home visiting
  • health services including health visitors and
    midwives (community team for the area)
  • links with Job Centre Plus
  • Information and advice services
  • Outreach really important especially for some
    isolated communities e.g. Bevendean, Coldean,
    Woodingdean, BME Groups
