of Education
2Bachelor of Science LBSC
- .
- 3 years full time, _at_ 8 courses per year.
- 24 Courses (4.5 units each).
- 3 courses per half year is a 75 load. This is
considered by Centrelink to be close enough to a
full time student. - may study part time if you wish, but
- there are restrictions on student visa holders.

Structure
4Bachelor of Science
- First year enrolment
- Choose your 3 different areas of study.
- You dont necessarily have to decide yet which
will be your major. - Enrol in the level 1 courses in your 3 areas,
plus a Communication course and a Statistics
course. - Part time students have more flexibility.
- Variations are possible.
5Bachelor of Science
- Majors and Minors
- The list of permissible Majors and Science Minors
is at the LBSC web site. - The second minor can be any of those offered by
the University, plus others. - Some combinations of major and minors are
difficult to timetable.
6Bachelor of Science
- Electives
- 2 electives must each extend the Major or the
Science Minor. (Both in the same area or one of
each.) - 2 electives can be in any area of Science.
- 2 electives must broaden the students learning.
That is, they must be not science. - If the second minor is not science, then the
Broadening requirement is fulfilled, and the last
2 electives can be anything.
7Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of EducationDouble
Degree
- LBES
- 4 years full time.
- has 14 courses of study in Education and
curriculum. - by substituting 6 core Education courses for the
second minor and broadening electives in LBSC,
you can complete both degrees in one extra year.
8Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of EducationDouble
Degree
- Hence the double degree has
- a Statistics course,
- a Science major, and a
- Science minor, plus
- 4 or 5 Science electives, 2 of which must each
extend the major or minor. - the choice of major and Science minor is the same
as for the LBSC.

11Bachelor of Science
12Bachelor of Science
Second minor (LBSC only) all majors and minors
listed above, and many others, including
Human Movement cannot be studied as a minor in
LBES.
13Bachelor of Science
- There are a few tricks
- Some courses are listed in more than one major or
minor. For example, Earth Systems and Soil
Science are in Environmental Systems and
Geoscience. - You cant count the same course twice, but you
may choose to put such courses in whichever area
suits you. This gives more flexibility.
14Bachelor of Science
Chemistry / Biology Chemistry 100 and
Chemistry 101 assume knowledge of SACE Stage 2
(year 12) Chemistry. Chemistry in Life 100 and
101 do not. They can be used to prepare for Chem
100/101. They can be included as science
electives. Chemistry in Life 100/101 are
essential for a Biology major. Chemistry 100/101
are better.
15Bachelor of Science
Physics It is highly recommended that an Applied
Physics major be supported by a Mathematics
minor. Psychology Minor Psychology may be used
as the Science minor. Nevertheless, Psychology
courses can fulfil the broadening requirements of
LBSC.
