The project area is very poor. People live in
very run down shacks and there is no electricity,
running water or toilet facilities.

The Leprosy Mission are building new houses for
the people with leprosy.

Food is very scarce and the villagers live a
hand to mouth existence, drying out their produce
in the sun to make it last longer. They eat goat
meat once a year for Christmas.

Sanitation is very important to avoid diseases.
The leprosy community had no facilities. Latrines
were therefore built with the help of local
labour.

Clean drinking water is critical. Two boreholes
have been provided with two more planned next
year.
