  • 90 minutes daily uninterrupted reading
    instructional block
  • Provide staff with training on the plan
    (PowerPoint and script to be provided to all
    schools in August).

  • Reading/literacy coaches must adhere to the Just
    Read, Florida! coach model
  • Must commit to working towards completion of
    reading endorsement unless already certified or
    endorsed in reading (to be provided through coach
    monthly trainings)
  • Must be certified in elementary education
  • Must attend ALL training meetings (twice per
    month)
  • Must complete monthly coach activity logs
  • May not be scheduled with students, used as a
    substitute, or for administrative tasks
  • Should have ability to work with adult learners
  • Must be able to deliver professional development
  • Must agree to attend Just Read, Florida! Coaching
    Academy from August 8-11, 2005

  • Progress monitoring of Tier 3 third graders and
    Level 1 and 2 fourth and fifth graders with an
    Oral Reading Fluency probe a one minute running
    record for speed and accuracy (to be provided)

    environment

    Grades 3-5(6)
  • Correlation of K-12 CRP plan to your School
    Improvement Plan
  • (SIP template will contain sample reading

  • Reading certification or endorsement expected for
    EVERY reading/literacy coach in the district
  • 90-minute uninterrupted initial instructional
    block for reading writing process instruction
    occurs outside this period
  • Immediate Intensive Intervention must occur
    outside the 90-minute block for struggling
    readers

  • Provide in-service on the K-12 CRP during
    pre-planning.
  • Provide professional development materials to
    support instruction.
  • Ensure that the reading coach is not used as a
    reading resource teacher, substitute,
    administrator, or in any other capacity that
    takes them away from their main task of being a
    full-time professional development resource in
    reading.
