  • Ensure Students (and yourselves) know fire drill
  • See Fire drill presentation (intranet)
  • Alarm is continuous siren sound
  • Sounders have light attached which flash for
    those with hearing impairment
  • Alarm tested every Friday
  • Easterhouse 1400hrs Haghill 1000hrs
  • Fire evacuation test (at least 2 every term)

  • LECTURERS (in Fire Plan)
  • Ensure students familiarise themselves with fire
    evacuation information
  • Remain with lecturer
  • Report for class roll at Assembly point
  • - Blue fire notices in each room
  • - Nearest exit
  • - Keep escape routes free from obstruction at
    all times
  • - Do not use lifts
  • - Do not double park (Haghill) on road at
    entrance may block Fire Engine
  • Take register to nearest Assembly point
  • Advise Fire Evacuation Controller / Fire Marshal
    if any students at Fire Refuge area
  • Call Register and report to Fire Marshal
  • Having advised that all students accounted for
    (and any visitors)

  • MOBILITY IMPAIRED STUDENTS
  • Mobility impaired personnel are required to
    complete a PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation
    Plan)
  • A PEEP must be carried out for any Student /
    Visitor or Member of staff who have mobility
    problems or have difficulty vacating the building
    in the event of a Fire or Fire drill
  • PEEPS
  • Identify if wheelchair user
  • Identify assistance (e.g. support workers)
  • Features or equipment to assist the evacuation
  • E.g. Fire evacuation chair
  • Includes a plan for lunch and breaks
  • Completed daily

  • Actuate break glass point to operate alarm system
  • Only fight fire if trained (dont attempt if

    Near Miss Report Form held at reception
  • Supervisor or lecturer are to record action taken
    to prevent recurrence
  • Assistance of HSO where required
  • Near misses are to be reported in the same way
  • This is to ensure action is taken to prevent
    accident

EYE SIGHT TEST PROCEDURES
  • Procedure can be assessed in Personnel Services
    contained within Policies and Procedures on the
    Intranet
  • Good evidence that work with DSE does not cause
    any permanent damage to eyes or eye sight
  • Complaints of temporary discomfort, eye strain
    and headaches are common
  • Users with existing uncorrected vision defects
    are more likely to suffer fatigue and stress in
    DSE work
  • Eye tests and corrective appliances are intended
    to be a means of alleviating such problems
