Status of uploading files with SAM at CDF at
Fermilab

CDF sam_upload at Fermilab

• http//www.pi.infn.it/fella/sam_upload/
• fcdfdata064 with cdf-samstore station is server
  for sam_upload client developed by Armando F
  maintained now by Gabrielle C
• Proven to work from remote sites (e.g. from
  Toronto)
• In a way similar to fcdfdata014 and cdf-cat
  station used in the past by the Italian and
  Rutgers groups

Large Volume SAM upload

• Being developed for the MC ntuple upload
  on/using fcdfdata134 (Dehong Z)
• Current plan is to streamline data flow by
  deploying SAM stager on the very node and using
  sam store commands to avoid double data movement
  after the files are fetched from remote sites to
  fcdfdata134
• Can one reuse any of the sam_upload software?

Hardware/Software Details

• Can sam_upload server accept grid service
  certificates?
• How to automate the authorisation?
• Have to decommission fcdfdata014, 064 this year
  (May November)

• We expect to start routine uploading of
  production mc files some time this month
