  • We want to ensure that the professionals involved
    with young children and their families always
    work together in a coordinated and integrated
    way.
  • We are also committed to being able to offer all
    young children high-quality learning and teaching
    experiences based on examples of existing good
    practice here and abroad.

Putting our plans into action
  • We have identified key actions we need to take
    during the next three years to implement our
    plans childrens centres and extended schools
    will have a vital role to play in ensuring that
    these are undertaken successfully.

Childrens Centre Offer
  • All childrens centres must offer access to the
    following core services
  • Early education integrated with child care
  • Family support and outreach to parents
  • Child and family health services
  • In addition, it will act as a service hub within
    the community for parents and providers of
    childcare services for children of all ages -
    offering a base for childminder networks and a
    link to other day care provision, out of school
    clubs and extended schools. Centres will also
    have links with local training and education
    providers, Jobcentre Plus and Childrens
    Information Services.

  • Integrated childrens centres will accommodate
    the following staff who will work together as a
    team led by the centre manager with their
    respective clinical/specialism management
    arrangements. All childrens centres will develop
    strong links with their local schools and GPs, as
    well as other local service providers.
