• Complete of obtain seismic, log, scouting
  information or other data
• Lease the land or obtain concessions
• Calculate reserves or estimate from best data
  available
• Reserves estimates show payout, proceed with well

• Obtain permits from conservation/national
  authority.
• Prepare drilling and completion program
• Ask for rig bids from contractors
• Modify program to fit contractors needs
• Construct roads, location/platform, etc.

• Gather all personnel concerned for meeting prior
  to commencing drilling
• If necessary, modify program
• Drill well
• Move contractor if workover is to be used to
  complete well
