Employee Spotlight

• Congratulations to Trang Huynh, P.E. for his new
  appointment to the California Building Officials
  (CALBO) State Code Committee for 2007-08.
• As a recent appointee to the State Code
  Committee, Trang, along with nine other
  committee members from various major cities in
  California, will be tasked with helping to
  promote public health and safety in building
  construction through responsible legislation,
  education, and building code development.
• With new codes adopted earlier this year (see The
  Buzz in Building Newsletter, Winter issue) by the
  California Building Standards Commission (BSC),
  jurisdictions throughout California will be
  required to implement these new codes by January
  1, 2008, making the work and recommendations of
  the State Code Committee more vital than ever to
  the CALBO board. Through a collaborative effort,
  this committee will focus on three major
  objectives that will lend as a guide to other
  Building Officials throughout California, as well
  as ultimately benefit respective communities as a
  whole. The goals for this committee are
• Develop a guideline booklet for Building
  Officials, summarizing the State Code and local
  adoption process
• Explore the possibility of CALBO providing its
  membership with model code proposal
  recommendation
• Review proposed State Agency and Building
  Standards Commission 2008 amendments and provide
  recommendations
