  • There are nine planets in our Solar System.
  • Starting from the sun the order of the planets is
    as follows
  • Mercury
  • Venus
  • Earth
  • Mars
  • Jupiter
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Neptune
  • Pluto

Our Planets
  • Mercury- This planet is the closest to the sun
    and is the 8th largest planet in our solar
    system.
  • Venus- This planet is the 2nd planet from the
    sun. It is the brightest object in the sky except
    for the Sun and the Moon.
  • Earth- This planet is the 3rd planet from the
    sun. 71 of the planets surface is covered with
    water. This planet is the only planet on which
    water can exist in liquid form on the surface.
  • Mars- This planet is the 4th planet from the sun.
    This Red Planet has a very thin atmosphere.
  • Jupiter- This planet is the 5th planet from the
    sun. It is the largest planet as well as a gas
    planet.

  • Saturn- This planet is the 6th planet from the
    sun. This planet is the least dense of all the
    planets. It is a gas planet and it contains 6
    rings.
  • Uranus- This planet is the 7th planet from the
    sun. It is composed of rocks and various ices and
    it also contains rings.
  • Neptune- This planet is the 8th planet from the
    sun. It is a gas planet, it is blue in color and
    also contains rings.
  • Pluto- This planet is the farthest away from the
    sun. It is the smallest planet and it is the only
    planet not visited by a spacecraft.
