Our ME 262 Honors Project Objectives
  • Learn to use the CAD/CAM software ProE
  • Study the components of the Moonbuggy
  • Create 3D models of parts of the moonbuggy
  • Combine the part models with other students
    models
  • Present final results

14
Specific Duties of Each Student
  • Patrick Delp
  • Brandon Faulkner
  • Melissa Grubb

  • Computer Aided Design and Analysis
  • Modeling of Three Dimensional Joints

29
Universal Joint (2 DOF)
30
Steering Joint (3 DOF)
31
Conclusion
  • What did we learn?
  • How did this go above and beyond the normal
    course duties?
  • What are our future plans for these 3D models?

32
What did we learn?
  • How to create solid models in Pro/Engineer
  • How to assemble solid models in Pro/Engineer
  • Real World Applications of Joints
  • Composition of Suspension and Transmission System

33
How Did this go beyond normal course work?
  • We used Pro/Engineer to model systems
  • We studied in three dimensions
  • We did an in-depth study of Moonbuggy components

34
What are the future plans for the models?
  • Motion studies of joints
  • Motion studies of linkages
  • Motion studies of reactions to applied loads
