    developing the Rigid Plastic Standard.

Requirements and implemented over 90 of the
    requirements.
  • Future ISO 2200?

5
Management Commitment
  • Strategic plan identified growth in both the food
    and medical markets,
  • HACCP was identified an excellent tool to achieve
    our goals and objectives.
  • We established an implementation committee
consisting of 10 personnel (Senior Management,
    Operations, HR, Sales, Engineering, QA,
    Technical, Logistics, Purchasing, Planning,
    Production)

6
Steering Committee
  • Steering committee provided an overall
perspective of the project including the interest
and needs of the stake holders (i.e. One of our
major food account attended these meetings and
was impressed that Cousins Currie was a member of
    this committee)

7
Rigid Plastic Standard Committee
  • The Rigid Plastic Standard Committee consisted of
many stake holders with varied interests. The
inputs provided by the government, customers,
    suppliers, consultants including GFTC were
valuable in drafting the standard. It also
provided us with a different perspective on some
aspects of the standard that we viewed as too
stringent for the blow molding industry.

8
Pilot
  • Our team had one day of training with GFTC
including a review of the pilot objectives and
Process. In addition to the pilot objectives our
team agreed to implement the program requirements
    where possible.
  • Each segment of the prerequisite program
    requirements was electronically assigned to
members of our team for customization.

9
Pilot
  • The standard and workbooks were workable, clear,
easy to use, complete and effective. Some
formatting issues encountered were easy to
    overcome.
  • The biggest hurdle encountered was the cost and
time required to implement some of the
requirements (i.e.. Lights) though beyond the
    scope of the pilots objectives.

10
Future
  • We are strongly considering the ISO 2200 standard
towards integrating our ISO 90012000 QMS with
    HACCP.
  • HACCP has made a difference within our
    facilitates with improved consistency in
housekeeping and adherence to our jewelry policy.
  • The measurable impact may be captured in our
manufacturing scrap (currently less than 1.5)
where contamination is the second biggest
contributor. This may also reduce our customer
    rejects in terms of DPPM.
