What is War Child?
  • War Child is an international relief and

  • War Child was founded in 1993 in response to the
conflict in the former Yugoslavia. It has since
expanded its work to conflicts worldwide, with an
emphasis on Africa and Central Asia.
  • War Child strives to alleviate the suffering of
children affected by war and focus public
attention on the plight of these children.

Whats the link between War Child and baking?
  • War Child provides practical aid, often food.
  • Mobile field bakeries can produce thousands of
    loaves per day.
  • In Herat, Afghanistan in 2002
  • 20,000 people a day
  • more than five million loaves total.

Will my money go where it is really needed?
  • Yes! War Child Australia is staffed entirely by
    volunteers.
  • Our administrative costs (biros, printer paper,
internet connections etc) are kept low (mostly
donated), so that as much money as possible can
go directly to War Child field work.
  • War Child Australian can accept cash or cheque
donations. Credit card donations can be made
through the War Child UK website.

10
Kids Night In
  • Help War Child by buying Kids Night In. All
    royalties go to War Child.
  • Authors include Andy Griffiths, Morris Gleitzman
    and Jacqueline Wilson.
  • Make a difference and have fun at the same time.

11
Support hope. Support War Child.
  • War Child Australias first field worker was
    Joanna Francis from Melbourne.
  • She worked in Herat Afghanistan for almost a year
    from Nov 2002.
  • Joanna worked with widowed mothers on a farm
project, and helped manage the construction of a
    kindergarten for 500 children.

Joanna made a difference to the lives of many
Afghani people by helping them to build a future.
