Why this approach ?
  • Standards aim at
  • Facilitating the definition and the evaluation of
    water and sanitation (WSS) services,
  • Facilitating dialogue between all stakeholders,
    namely operators, local authorities, consumers
    associations, regulatory bodies,
  • Developing a common understanding
  • STANDARDIZATION GENERATOR OF PROGRESS

What we do not want
  • Complicated words, even if the subject is
    technical and specialized
  • Theoretical speeches far from the actual
    situation on the ground in Africa
  • A workshop where experts and consultants provide
    their science without interaction

What we want
  • An exchange with an objective of 50 of the time
    spent in debates
  • The involvement of all stakeholders (operators,
    local governments, consumers associations,
    regulators)
  • A pragmatic workshop ending with a clear shared
    road map

  • Presentation of a methodology of implementation
    of standards, adapted to the African context
  • Discussion of this methodology and adaptation
    according to the conclusions of the working
    sessions
  • Definition of the most pertinent criteria in
    order to test these standards
