Overview of what we did
  • 4 meetings of focus group
  • 6 people with aphasia from Speakability groups
    across Scotland
  • recruited via SLTs
  • 2 people had been involved in the Aphasia Project
    from the beginning

How we worked
  • information was sent out in advance to give
    people with aphasia time to read it
  • job descriptions agreed what people signed up
    to
  • worked in partnership
  • agreed plans and criteria
  • listened and made changes

People with aphasia
  • contributed their ideas
  • made suggestions and shared examples of
    accessible information
  • made choices and decisions
  • gave feedback on the draft report
  • what photos and drawings to use
  • designed/gave feedback on drafts of these
  • what wording, font, colours, layout etc

  • explained background to the project
  • carried out literature review on accessible
    information
  • looked at current documents for examples
  • visited Connect
  • searched internet for images gave choices
  • sent out plans, drafts of report
  • incorporated comments by stakeholders
